Welcome to the Freight Handling Code: Logs online course for KiwiRail Personnel.

Attention: This course is designed for use on a PC or laptop through the KLE portal.
With more heavier and longer freight trains now travelling around the Rail Network due to a growing international demand for export logs, there is an increased focus on how they are handled to ensure the safety of the public, customers and employees.

By the end of this course you will be able to:
  • Learn about the Freight Handling Code, Joint Operating Plans and Local Operating Procedures.
  • Identify what a good load looks like according to the Freight Handling Code.
  • Describe the different checks that occur during a train inspection.
  • Describe the processes before logs move to their final destination.

This course is designed for all Rail Personnel and contractors (workers) working with and around the transportation of logs.

Revalidation: 24 months revalidation is required
